LTS USA GUIDES
BERT De KLERK
Fish On! Sports and LTS Flyfishing extend our warm welcome to Bert De Klerk, owner and operator of Bert's Guide Service, for joining our LTS USA Guide Program! Here's Bert's Bio: I started fishing at the age of five spending most of the time fishing ponds, rivers and coastal waters for trout, perch, pike, bass & walleye and the North Sea for flounders, plaice & mackerel. I was born and raised in the Netherlands. My father bought me a twenty foot wooden canoe when I was eleven from which I explored the waters and rivers surrounding my place of birth. In France I picked up a fly-rod for the first time and fished the l’-Ardeche for trout and was introduced to white water canoeing. From Spain I fished the Mediterranean sea for it’s Blue Fin Tuna. After my move to the United States of America I purchased the McKenzie River Inn and trained with Outdoor Ventures to complete my skills to operate as a white water river/fishing guide. I have been training guides and private boaters since 2008 until 2020. With my varied experience and passion for the outdoors, I’m more than willing to share my expertise and techniques with you. My most favorite things in life:
Bert is also a certified GORP (Guide and Outfitter Recognized Professional), a program/training course developed by the Oregon State University. LITTLELEAF GUIDE SERVICE
Fish On! Sports and LTS Flyfishing are thrilled to welcome Elke & Alysia Littleleaf to the LTS USA Guides program!
With their expert guiding on the Deschutes River at Warm Springs, OR, Donna O'Sullivan recently landed a feisty 27in steelhead hen just before dusk, and caught on Alysia's special orange mini intruder! Here are Elke & Alysia's background and achievements: Elke & Alysia Littleleaf are the first duo native American fly fishing guide couple of the USA. We are both from the Warm Springs Indian reservation. Elke is a descendant of "Ollakot " who was the war chief and young brother to Chief Joseph of the Nez Pierce. His grandfather Jack littleleaf was the Piikani chief, aka. Blackfoot of Brocket, Alberta, Canada. This is why our business is named Littleleaf Guide Service. Elke is also the decedent from Chief Owhi of the Yakima wars. His lovely wife Alysia is a descendant of Chief Billy Chinook, a famous chief who took part in the success of the reservation years. Elke became a self taught fly fisherman 18 years ago. Our people have been fly fishing for thousands of years, tribes like the Seminole, Cree, Blackfeet, Sioux, Ute, etc. I wanted to become the first recognized true native American fly fisherman, I have learnt by myself how to cast the single hand and double handed spey, tying nymphs & streamers. My best talent is reading the water for where the fish will hold for many types of game fish. Since childhood, I had the knack to catch fish by hand and on the line. Elke has been fishing the Deschutes since 1975 at 7 years old, with 43 years of experience. My wife Alysia is also a guide who is equally capable of teaching & guiding her clients, especially the ladies. She can get anyone hooked on fly fishing. Alysia ties her own special nymph and streamer flies that are proven patterns of success. The Littleleafs are outdoor advocates for the protection of the natural resources. We have spent many hours & donations to help other non profit entities, who work to protect the rivers & tributaries of the Pacific Northwest. The Littleleaf's instinctive fight for nature has elevated them from being self made towards an honorable recognition. Their determination has evolved into appearances on TV shows, magazines articles, radio interviews, speaker events, newspapers, social media. Even from the Capitol, we are in alliance with our state governor, senators, Republicans and Democrats as being neutral natives of unity. Last year we were asked to speak for Governor Kate Brown and the native Americans of the Pacific Northwest. It was against the off shore drilling along the PNW coast. Our highlight boost is from a special video, "Sky High Salmon Fly " that helped put us on the map of the fly fishing industry, created by the world famous "Todd Moen". The video has over 2 1/2 million views on YouTube. Last but not least, we were truly blessed to be featured on the Fly Rod Chronicles TV show, with host Curtis Fleming on 2 separate shows: Accolades of Honor, and As Veterans of Standing & NODAPL. In today's times, I feel that we all must know the limitations of our natural resources. Each day, our own survival is at stake from the continued destruction & daily pollution. So there is more to than just being an angler, we also have to be the caretakers for the next generations. We can all be the best anglers in the world, yet it will not matter if all the fish are gone. So it's our duty to protect our natural resources, it is our life, our future, our children's future! -- Elke Littleleaf Here are the Littleleaf Guides contact information: Address: Littleleaf Guides P.O. Fish On! Sports and LTS Flyfishing are extremely excited to announce that Brian Ramsey has joined our LTS USA Pro Staff, a team of professional guides and top casters who have the knowledge and skill to make your fishing experience even better with the best LTS fly fishing tackle, casting techniques and on stream experience! Brian started fly fishing at age 13 and hasn't stopped ever since, which has lead to a very interesting career in the U.S. fly fishing industry. Starting out of high school as a fly fishing guide in northern Minnesota for The-In-Fisherman's Camp Fish for youth in the Midwest, this spring boarded his interest in the fly fishing industry to all corners of North America. His inquisitive mind, athleticism and determination to get things right has lead to experiences with some of the best minds in the fresh and saltwater arenas. Stemming from a life long passion to be outside, pursuing fish in incredible surrounds, he brings this passion to the angling public in various forms of casting clinics and Power Point angling presentations to clubs whenever time from the water and family affords. Early on Brian has had the honor of learning from what he calls, the 'Fantastic Five' categories of the U.S. fly fishing industry; The Saltwater world from Jeffery Cardenas in Key West, Davy Wotton on the trout, Rod design with Tom Morgan, casting with Steve Rajeff and has worked for all the big fly shops in the Northern rockies as a guide/fly shop junkie. Having to pay his dues over the years working graveyards at various un-glamorous jobs in the off-season just so he could trout fish some 200 days a year in the 'Golden Ring' region of the northern Rockies, puts him in a piscatorial pursuit class all by himself. Brian has done this for decades and has appeared in photo essays of him in magazines like Gray's Sporting Journal. If you get a chance to meet this approachable, gentle giant Swede from Minnesota be prepared to answer some questions, have a laugh or two and learn something new as he believes everyone has something to offer whether you're a Czech nymphing, Tarpon Cup, Spey casting champion or just a beginner. He currently divides his time with family on an organic farm in southwest Wisconsin's Driftless trout region and still guides Montana's Paradise Valley spring creeks for the PMD hatch. His teenage daughter calls him a fly casting 'Quiet Madman.' Brian can be reached at: brianramseyflyfishing.com NATE BAILEY
Nate Bailey is the owner and operator of On The Fly Guide Service, based in Southern Oregon. He is a published Outdoor Writer, Photographer, and cut his fly fishing teeth on the famed Williamson River near his home town of Chiloquin, OR. Nate was surrounded by Southern Oregon’s Fly Fishing Greats, Polly Rosebrough , and Paul Pursell. After a long summers mowing Mr.Pursell’s lawn, chasing his beagles all over town, and helping sort book orders, Nate finally earned his first fly rod at the age of thirteen. Through the years Nate took these early skills to waters from Virginia to Alaska, catching everything from Redfish to King Salmon on the fly rod. Southern Oregon never got out of his blood. He recognized the usefulness of the Spey Cast in the late nineties, and applied it to all of his fishing—a out of the box approach in its time. Nate applies these methods on the Famed Rogue, Williamson, Wood, and other Southern Oregon Rivers that he has been fly fishing for over 30 years. When not on the river you can find Nate sharing with others as Administrator on Big Stick Fly Fishing Forum, or presenting some of his “out of the box,” methods to clubs throughout the Northwest. If you would like to learn more about Nate, check out his website here www.southernoregonflyfishing.com or you can follow his blog at www.southernoregonflyfishing.blogspot.com Email: rogueriverflyfishing@gmail.com |
